F-18: Winner of the 2024 Mark H. McCormack Medal for being the leading men's player in the World Amateur Golf Ranking
The Florida State University All-American will make his second U.S. Open start, thanks to being the winner of the Mark H. McCormack Medal for being the leading player in the World Amateur Golf Ranking following the 2024 U.S. Amateur. Clanton enjoyed a stellar 2024 season that included being the first amateur since 1958 to finish in the top 10 in consecutive PGA Tour events (Rocket Mortgage Classic and John Deere Classic). He shared runner-up honors in the John Deere Classic. Clanton also finished a stroke out of low-amateur honors to Neal Shipley in the U.S. Open at Pinehurst. He advanced to the Round of 32 at the U.S. Amateur. Last spring, he finished fifth in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship and fifth in the NCAA Stanford (Calif.) Regional in leading the Seminoles to the NCAA Championship, where they lost in the championship final to Auburn. Clanton shared runner-up honors with five other golfers in the NCAA Division I Championship at the Omni La Costa Resort's North Course, one stroke behind winner Hiroshi Tai of Georgia Tech. In 2021, Clanton advanced to the semifinals of the U.S. Junior Amateur at The Country Club of North Carolina. In December, he was one of 16 players invited to a Walker Cup practice session in Florida.
