Parking & Transportation

Pinehurst Resort & Country Club is located roughly 70-miles southwest of Raleigh in the Village of Pinehurst. Complimentary parking and shuttle transportation will be provided from two (2) large fan parking lots. The RED Lot is located north of Pinehurst on NC-73 (West End, NC) and the BLUE Lot is located south of Pinehurst on Sand Pit Road (Aberdeen, NC). Signage will direct fan vehicles to their respective parking lot based on their point of origin.

There is NO general fan parking available on the grounds of Pinehurst Resort & Country Club or in the Village of Pinehurst. All local street parking will be enforceable in accordance with prevailing Village of Pinehurst ordinances and regulations. All other parking is by permit only.

Fans traveling from points west utilizing I-74 or US-24/27 East and fans traveling from points north (Raleigh) utilizing US-1 South or US-15/501 South are advised to proceed to the RED Lot. Complimentary shuttle transportation to and from Pinehurst Resort & Country Club is expected to take less than 15-minutes one-way.

From Points North Using I-74 South

1. Continue on I-74 Southbound towards Exit 44.

2. Take Exit 44 for NC-211 (Candor/Pinehurst).

3. Turn left onto NC-211 South towards Seven Lakes/Pinehurst for 11.3 miles.

4. Turn left onto Seven Lakes Drive for 2.1 miles.

5. Turn left onto Carthage Road for 0.9 miles.

6. Turn right onto McKenzies Mill road for 1.6 miles.

7. Turn left onto NC-73 East for 0.9 miles and follow signage to the RED Lot.

 

From Points South Using US-220/I-74 North

1. Continue on US-220 North turning into I-74 North.

2. Take Exit 33 for NC-73 (Windblow).

3. Turn right onto NC-73 East for 10.8 miles.

4. Turn left onto NC-211 West/NC-73 East for 0.2 miles.

5. Turn right onto NC-73 East for 2.8 miles and follow signage to the RED Lot. 

 

From Points North Using US-1 South

1. Continue on US-1 Southbound towards Sanford.

2. In Sanford, take slight right to merge onto US-15/501 South towards Pinehurst for 17.1 miles.

3. Turn right onto NC-73 West for 3.6 miles.

4. Turn right onto Beulah Hill Church Road for 0.6 miles and following signage to the RED Lot.

 

Fans traveling from points west utilizing US-74 Bypass, points east utilizing I-95, and fans traveling from points south utilizing US-1 North or US-501 North are advised to proceed to the BLUE Lot. Complimentary shuttle transportation to and from Pinehurst Resort & Country Club is expected to take less than 15-minutes one-way.

From US-74 Bypass Eastbound

1. Continue on the US-74 East Bypass proceeding towards Rockingham.

2. Take Exit 311 for US-1 North (Rockingham/Southern Pines).

3. Turn left onto US-1 North for 1.3 miles.

4. As you enter downtown Rockingham and at the Franklin Street intersection, turn right to continue on US-1 North for 22.9 miles.

5. Upon entering the Town of Pinebluff, turn left onto W Baltimore Avenue for 0.7 miles.

6. Turn right onto N Ridgecrest Road continuing straight onto Sand Pit Road for 0.8 miles, and follow signage to the BLUE Lot.

 

From I-95 Northbound & Southbound

1. Continue on I-95 towards Exit 31.

2. Take Exit 31 for NC-20 West towards Pinehurst.

3. Turn onto NC-20 West for 17.4 miles.

4. Turn left onto E Palmer Street for 3.1 miles.

5. Turn left onto NC-211 North for 15.4 miles.

6. Turn right onto US-15/501 North for 0.3 miles.

7. Turn left onto US-1 South for 0.1 miles and stay in the right lane.

8. Turn right onto Roseland Road and follow signage to the BLUE Lot.

 

From points south using US-1 Northbound 

1. Continue on US-1 North towards Rockingham.

2. As you enter downtown Rockingham and at the Franklin Street intersection, turn right to continue on US-1 North for 22.9 miles.

3. Upon entering the Town of Pinebluff, turn left onto W Baltimore Avenue for 0.7 miles.

4. Turn right onto N Ridgecrest Road continuing straight onto Sand Pit Road for 0.8 miles, and follow signage to the BLUE Lot.

The USGA is committed to providing a positive and user-friendly experience for all fans with disabilities. Accessible parking spaces for all vehicles displaying the appropriate HD/DP license plates or placards will be reserved at all parking locations. Fans requiring lift-equipped transportation should contact the USGA Championship Office at 2024usopen@usga.org ahead of the championship to receive specific parking instructions.

The USGA will provide complimentary lift-equipped shuttle transportation to and from all remote championship parking lots. Furthermore, the Disability Services Committee will be onsite to assist fans with disabilities with multi-person golf cart transportation to and from designated stops and accessible grandstand and facility locations throughout the championship grounds.

Ride share services, passenger, taxi or limousine drop-offs will only be allowed at the designated area located off Midland Road (NC-2) near the traffic circle, which is a short walk to Gate 6. There is NO parking or staging for vehicles, so please coordinate pick-up times accordingly. Please follow directional signs and parking attendants to the appropriate pick-up and drop-off location. Due to traffic restrictions, access is limited to vehicles no larger than a 15-passenger van or limousine.

Ride share vehicles are NOT permitted to pick-up or drop-off at any other location around the Championship grounds. All other U.S. Open parking is by permit and parking pass only.

Fans choosing to ride a bicycle to the championship are instructed to follow directions and signage to general fan lots and take the shuttle bus to and from the golf course or proceed to the Ride Share location off Midland Road. Bike racks will be provided to secure bikes at each location. Owners are responsible for the security of their bicycle.

If you plan to drive a golf cart, please adhere to all local ordinances and regulations. Golf carts are NOT permitted on state roads which include US 15-501, NC-211, NC-5, NC-2, Morganton Road, Page Road, and Linden Road. Personal golf carts will NOT be permitted on the championship grounds.

Designated golf cart parking has been established in the following locations for local residents. Those parking a golf cart should follow signage to walk to the nearest championship admission gate.

  • Village of Pinehurst – Follow Village of Pinehurst parking guidelines and restrictions

  • Course No. 1 – Hole 3 Fairway 

  • Course No. 5 - Hole 18 Fairway

  • Course No. 7 – via Brookhaven Road 

  • Ride Share via Midland Road

NC By Train, North Carolina’s passenger rail service, will run a special train service between Raleigh Union Station and the championship daily between June 13-16.

  • The morning train will depart Raleigh Union Station at 7:00 a.m. and Cary at 7:15 a.m. and arrive in Pinehurst at approximately 9:10am.
  • The evening train will depart Pinehurst at 6:35 p.m. and arrive at Cary at approximately 8:30 p.m. and Raleigh Union Station at approximately 8:45 p.m.

Tickets are available for purchase now on Amtrak’s website (www.amtrak.com/usopen). Tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis and seating is limited. Standard tickets are $25 each way. Passengers will be able to walk and access the championship grounds through Gate 10.

The Village of Pinehurst is excited to invite a global audience to our home for the 2024 U.S. Open Championship! During the day, the Village Center is “Open for the Open” and local retail businesses and restaurants are ready to serve you and your guests. The Village of Pinehurst and the USGA also welcomes all fans to further enjoy the championship beyond the gates by visiting the Village of Pinehurst. Conveniently located in Tufts Park in the Village Center, the U.S. Open Showcase will be the site of an entertainment stage, a large LED screen, photo opportunities, a golf simulator, putting green, and live streaming coverage of the championship. A detailed schedule of events for the U.S. Open Showcase is available by visiting the Village of Pinehurst’s website. The Village Center is a short ¼-mile walk from the U.S. Open’s Gate 8 championship entrance.

Visit the USGA Experience and World Golf Hall of Fame on the USGA’s Golf House Pinehurst campus. Admission is free and no ticket is necessary to enter the building. Hours of operation are as follows:

  • Friday-Sunday, June 7-9 – open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Monday, June 10 – closed for the World Golf Hall of Fame induction ceremony
  • Tuesday-Sunday, June 11-16 – open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In the gift shop, visitors can shop for a selection of USGA Championship and World Golf Hall of Fame merchandise.

Fans and other championship attendees will go through security screening prior to entering the championship grounds and will not be allowed to bring any of the items listed below. To help expedite admission into the championship, it is recommended that all prohibited items are safely stowed prior to arriving at the championship or parking lot or boarding a shuttle bus. Please be sure to read the following list of prohibited items carefully.

 

  • No Weapons (regardless of permit, including but not limited to firearms or knives)

  • No Explosives and/or Fireworks of any kind

  • No Tablets and/or Computers (mobile devices smaller than 7" are permitted, subject to mobile device policy)

  • No Drones

  • No Selfie Sticks or Handheld Camera Stabilizers

  • No Cameras (point and shoot, film, or DSLR) or Video Cameras (other than Monday through Wednesday for personal use only)

  • No Noise-Producing Devices (including radios, TV’s, or portable speakers)

  • No Backpacks, Briefcases, Purses and/or Bags larger than 6" W x 6" H x 6" D in their natural state

    NOTE: Transparent/clear plastic hand and shoulder bags no larger than 12" W x 12" H x 6" D are permitted.

  • No Signs, Posters, Banners and/or other Sports Paraphernalia or Memorabilia

  • No Food and/or Beverages except for medical or infant needs

  • Water Bottles (32-ounce size or less, no glass) are permitted provided they are empty upon arrival

  • No Glass and/or Coolers except for medical or infant needs

NOTE: Aerosol Cans, Spray Bottles, and/or Personal-care items (3.4 ounces or less) are permitted.

  • No Pets or Emotional Support Animals (only trained service dogs as defined by the ADA)

  • No Lounge Chairs and/or Oversized Chairs

  • No Ladders and/or Step Stools or other similar items

  • No Bicycles, Segways, Scooters, or other personal transportation devices allowed inside Championship admission gates (other than used for individuals with mobility disabilities)

  • No other items or actions deemed unlawful, dangerous or disruptive by the USGA and/or Championship Security Personnel, in their sole discretion

The USGA reserves the right to amend the List of Prohibited Items at any time to provide a safe and secure Championship.

The USGA has partnered with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety and U.S. Department of Homeland Security on the “If You See Something, Say Something” campaign. The campaign is a simple and effective program to engage the public to identify and report potential threats, suspicious activity, and/or active incidents to law enforcement for proper response.

Average June temperatures around Pinehurst Resort & Country Club range from highs of 86°F to lows of 68°F. Hats, cool clothing and sunscreen are recommended on bright, sunny days.

Meteorology staff will be onsite monitoring weather conditions. The USGA will communicate important safety information to fans through special alerts that will appear on all leader boards, thru boards and video boards. Please read all alerts and follow safety instructions. In general, an alert shown in BLUE or YELLOW is being posted for general awareness while ORANGE indicates that fans should be prepared to take action. An Alert shown in RED poses an imminent threat and will require immediate action as stated in the Alert.

Weather Advisory (BLUE): A Weather Advisory will be posted to alert fans of specific weather conditions that will require certain precautions.

Weather Watch (YELLOW): A Weather Watch may be posted to alert fans that dangerous weather is possible.

Weather Warning (ORANGE): A Weather Warning may be posted to alert fans that dangerous weather is approaching and they should be prepared to take shelter or return to their vehicles.

Weather Warning (RED): A Weather Warning may be posted to alert fans that dangerous weather is imminent, and they should take immediate action to ensure their safety, including exiting all grandstands.

A suspension of play for dangerous conditions will be indicated by one prolonged air-horn blast. In the event of a suspension of play, grandstands will be cleared immediately. If lightning is detected, please avoid open areas, hilltops, high places, isolated trees, golf carts and wire fences, and seek shelter immediately. Play will resume as soon as conditions allow.

All facilities at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club are cashless. Credit card and debit card are the only accepted methods of payment at concession stands, merchandise pavilions, and shipping locations.

The Merchandise Pavilion, covering 35,000 square feet, is located near the Main Admission Gate. It includes over 400,000 U.S. Open logoed items from 50 different brands including, Peter Millar, the Official Outfitter of the U.S. Open and USGA. Peter Millar has designed custom apparel for the U.S. Open merchandise offering and for over 4,000 volunteers. Shop one-of-a-kind apparel designs and accessories exclusive to this year’s championship. The Satellite Tent, covering 5,500 square feet, is located in between the Champions Pavilion and Trophy Club.

For your convenience, a merchandise bag check tent and shipping tent will be located adjacent to the Merchandise Pavilion from Monday, June 10 through Sunday, June 16. A merchandise bag check will also be located adjacent to the Satellite Tent.

Hours of Operation:

Pre-Championship (Merchandise Pavilion Only)
June 6 - 9 (Thursday through Sunday) 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

No ticket is necessary to enter the Merchandise Pavilion during these pre-championship hours. The golf course will be closed to the public. Parking will be located on Course No. 1 near Morganton Road and the Merchandise Pavilion. Please follow signage and parking attendants to the complimentary parking location. Golf cart parking will be available in this area. All golf carts should follow local driving regulations and ordinances.

U.S. Open Championship Week
June 10 - 16 (Monday through Sunday) 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Merchandise Pavilion and the Satellite Tent are located on the Championship grounds. You must have a ticket or credential to gain entry during the championship.

Tickets & Admissions

Juniors aged 12 and under can request a complimentary Gallery ticket at the Ticket Office for each round with a ticketed or credentialed adult; Juniors aged 13-17 can request a complimentary Gallery ticket at the Ticket Office for practice rounds with a ticketed or credentialed adult, and for championship rounds can purchase a discounted Junior Gallery ticket ($50) at the Ticket Office with a ticketed or credentialed adult. Maximum of four (4) Junior tickets of any age per ticketed or credentialed adult.

PLEASE NOTE: Junior tickets do not provide access into any premium spaces or hospitality areas as specific tickets are required for access into each of those venues.  Discounted Junior premium tickets of all Junior ages for practice rounds, if available, can be purchased for Junior access into premium spaces (The Garden or Trophy Club for $50) at the Ticket Office. For championship rounds, if available, discounted Junior premium tickets for all Junior ages can be purchased for Junior access into premium spaces (The Garden or Trophy Club for $100 per ticket) at the Ticket Office. Maximum of four (4) Junior premium tickets of any age per ticketed or credentialed adult.

The military policy is extended to active and retired military members only. For practice rounds, those eligible can request one (1) complimentary ticket per practice day via an online registration process. For championship rounds, active and retired military members can purchase one (1) ticket at a 50% discount per championship day via an online ticket offer. All military tickets must be reserved or purchased in advance. Tickets will be non-transferable and are for the policy holder only. All paid and complimentary tickets for 2024 USGA Championships will be delivered to recipients digitally via AXS Guest Services (guestservices@axs.com) and accessible via the USGA App. Mobile tickets will be delivered to the AXS account utilized when purchasing or accepting transferred tickets. Fans will not be permitted to enter the gates without a digital ticket or the proper championship credential. Screenshots do NOT permit entry. All times are Eastern Daylight Time and are subject to change. Starting times will be posted once available at usopen.com and on the USGA App.

Practice Rounds:

Players will have the option of starting practice rounds on the first or 10th tee. Players electing to play a full round generally begin between 6:45 a.m. and 3 p.m. It is typical for players to be on the golf course or practice areas until at least 7 p.m.

  • Monday, June 10 (Gates open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.)

  • Tuesday, June 11 (Gates open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.)

  • Wednesday, June 12 (Gates open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.)

Championship Rounds 1 & 2:

Play is scheduled to begin at 6:45 a.m. from both the first and 10th tees. The last groups are scheduled to begin play at 2:42 p.m. from both the first and 10th tees.

  • Thursday, June 13 (Gates open 6 a.m. to conclusion of play)

  • Friday, June 14 (Gates open 6 a.m. to conclusion of play)

Championship Rounds 3 & 4:

The first starting time will be determined by the number of players who make the cut at the conclusion of the second round (60 lowest scorers and anyone tying for 60th place). Generally, the first pairing begins play from the first tee between 8-9 a.m.; the last pairing for both days will start from the first tee at approximately 2:30 p.m.

  • Saturday, June 15 (Gates open one (1) hour before first posted tee time)

  • Sunday, June 16 (Gates open one (1) hour before first posted tee time)

Playoff:

If there is a tie for the low score after 72 holes, a two-hole aggregate playoff will begin immediately following play. If the playoff results in a tie after two holes, the tied players will immediately continue the playoff hole-by-hole (sudden-death format) until the champion is determined.

The USGA Resale Marketplace is the only USGA-approved secondary marketplace for purchasing tickets to the 2024 U.S. Open Championship at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club. Offerings include Gallery, Trophy Club, The Garden Featuring Corona Premier, and Reserved Grandstand. Ticket prices set by resellers may exceed face value. Re-entry into the championship will be permitted. Individuals leaving the property and returning later must stop by Gates 1, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 10 and have their face scanned prior to exiting the championship to be eligible for re-entry. Please visit one of the gates outlined above to gain re-entry. 

Conduct Policies 

The USGA asks that you respect each player’s complete focus on preparing for and playing in the championship. Autographs should only be obtained at designated Autograph Zones or at the completion of the player’s round. On-course autographs are not permitted at any time. This includes, but is not limited to, tees, fairways, greens and practice areas during practice and championship rounds.

To ensure a positive experience for all fans and players, the fan code of conduct will be enforced at all times. Fans will be subject to expulsion and loss of ticket privileges for unruly, disruptive, unsafe or illegal behavior, including:

  • Making rude, vulgar, or other inappropriate comments or gestures.

  • Verbal or physical harassment of players, volunteers, officials, or fans.

  • Yelling and/or distracting a player or any disruption of play or fan environment.

  • Inappropriate use of a mobile device.

  • Failing to stay behind gallery rope lines.

  • Refusal to follow the instructions of championship officials, volunteers, security personnel or posted signage.

The USGA encourages fans to capture their favorite moments at our championships and stay connected with family and friends while onsite. We have set guidelines on mobile device usage to ensure our players and other fans are not distracted or disrupted during the championship.

  • Fans may carry mobile devices smaller than 7” in length and/or height.

  • Device volume controls must be set to “silent” or “vibrate” and flash photography must be disabled.

  • Phone calls should be limited to areas away from play and not in any area that may disrupt play, including grandstands.

  • Photography, video, and audio recording are permitted throughout the course, but content must not be used for commercial purposes. 

  • Live streaming or shot-by-shot coverage of any player (with or without video) is not permitted at any time throughout championship week. 

  • All posted signage and instructions from championship staff and volunteers must be observed.

Conducting a global championship for the best golfers in the world is our primary focus. Violation of any of the above policies may result in immediate expulsion and loss of ticket privileges for the remainder of the championship.

If you observe the following guidelines, your experience at the U.S. Open Championship will be a more enjoyable one:

  • Please stay behind gallery ropes and always follow directions of championship marshals.

  • Only cross fairways at designated crosswalk areas.

  • Be considerate of others and kneel or sit if you are in the front row of the gallery.

  • Stay quiet and stand still when players are about to hit or when instructed by marshals.

  • All mobile device volume controls must be set to silent or vibrate at all times.

  • To always ensure your safety, walk carefully and never run.

  • The U.S. Open Championship involves substantial walking on grass hills, dirt paths and other uneven surfaces. Please wear appropriate footwear such as sneakers or golf shoes.

  • Drink plenty of fluids to prevent dehydration. 

  • To provide protection from the sun, remember to wear sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses. Please note that sunscreen in bottles and tubes 3.4 ounces or less are permitted.

Health & Wellness

The USGA is committed to providing a positive and user-friendly experience for all fans with disabilities and is pleased to provide the following services:

  • Accessible parking spaces for all vehicles having appropriate HD/DP license plates or placards will be reserved at all parking locations.

  • The Disability Services Committee will be onsite to assist fans with disabilities with multi-person golf carts and wheelchair accessible transportation to and from Disability Services Headquarters and specific grandstand and facility locations throughout the golf course via a fixed transportation route with predetermined stops. 

  • A limited number of motorized scooters for fans with disabilities will be available at the Mobility Scooter Tent located next to Gate 1 in Fan Central, on a first-come, first-served basis, compliments of the USGA and Pride Mobility.

  • Telecommunications Devices for the hearing impaired will be available at Disability Services Headquarters located next to Gate 1 in Fan Central. 

  • Accessible restrooms will be available at all portable restroom locations throughout the championship grounds.

First-Aid Stations will be located in Fan Central, right of Hole 2, and right of Hole 12. All First-Aid stations will be staffed with FirstHealth physicians and other licensed medical practitioners. Complimentary water will be provided at all First-Aid Stations and designated hydration stations will be located throughout the golf course. If a medical emergency arises, please notify a volunteer, security personnel, or USGA official.

Fans may bring an empty reusable water bottle (32-ounce size or less, no glass) onto the championship grounds, subject to security screening as indicated in the list of prohibited items. Hydration stations are available in the following locations:

  • Fan Central near Merchandise Pavilion

  • Adjacent Satellite Merchandise Tent

  • Players right of 2 fairway

  • Players right of 10 fairway 

  • Players right of 11 fairway

  • All First-Aid Stations (equipped with water coolers)

  • Volunteer Village (proper access required)

Nursing Mothers who prefer a more private location may use a room within a First-Aid Station. First-Aid Stations are located in Fan Central, right of Hole 2, and right of Hole 12. Nursing mothers are permitted to bring necessary equipment to the championship. Please reference the Prohibited Items list to learn more about permissible and non-permissible items.

Located next to Gate 1 in Fan Central, the Lost & Found and the Missing Persons facility is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Any fan finding a lost item on the grounds should report it to the nearest security personnel, volunteer, or USGA official who can deliver the item to Lost & Found. If you encounter a missing child or person, please notify U.S. Open Security at (704) 397-0868.

Fans are encouraged to bring their own sun protection and sunscreen. Please note, sunscreen bottles must adhere to the prohibited items policy and as follows: no glass and/or coolers except for medical or infant needs (aerosol cans, spray bottles, and/or personal-care items (3.4 ounces or less) are permitted). Sunscreen will also be available for purchase in the Merchandise Pavilion.
